Chaiten is alive!

Just a short update with some information in case somebody else is planning on visiting Chaiten.
Despite that the government has decided to abandon the city, some of the inhabitants do not want to give up their town. There is no electricity, running water, fixed line telephones nor Internet available in town but several supermercatos and accomodations are open and available to serve you. And by visiting the town and using those facilities you can help the people of Chaiten.
Accomodations (not complete list, add other ones as comments):
-Hospedaje Don Carlos, Carlos Gallardo, Almirante Riveros 53, doncarlos.palena@gmail.com, 91283328, with hot showers and electricity in the evening. Also meals are available.
-La Refugio, no additional information available. Contact Nicolas from Chaitur.

Tours/Information/Transport: Chaitur, Nicolas La Penna, O’Higgins 67, nchaitur@hotmail.com, 074685608

All those people are best available on their here posted cell phone numbers.

All the best from Chaiten,
Stefan
