Conclusion

I’m now since a few days in Ushuaia and it’s time for a conclusion about this bike adventure. What stays at the end are of course the positive things, which anyway are the majority. However, before I forget or block out the negative things, I’m writing them down here as well 😉 What I’m not going to miss Traffic During all this travelling time, mostly just by myself, I never had any security issues at all; except with traffic. From […]

Final Destiny: Tolhuim – Ushuaia

After more than 2’648km, I reached on Friday Ushuaia. This after a last time wild camping and a ride through a nice mountain landscape in sunny weather (Pictures will follow later on). So that’s it. It feels kind of strange that I’m not moving on tomorrow. Now I just have to figure out, how I bring my bike and trailer back to Switzerland. Suggestions for that are still very welcome. The cycling was somehow easier ;-). I will write an […]

Question: Transport of bike and trailer from Ushuaia to Switzerland

Does anybody of you have an idea how to transport a bike and a trailer from Ushuaia to Switzerland? I would like to avoid to take it as luggage with me because it’s expensive and complicated. I do not care how much time it takes. Every idea tip is very welcome! Thank you very much in advance, Stefan

Rio Grande – Tolhuim

[singlepic id=218 w=320 h=240 float=left]I have to say, I was very lucky. I had tailwind for a bigger part and almost no wind for the rest. Only for the last few km into Tolhuim, I had some headwind. And therefore I’am, surprisingly already in Tolhuim :-). I’m having a rest day here because it’s anyway rainy today but planning on heading towards Ushuaia on Thursday. I do not expect to have again tailwind because this part of the route goes […]

Punta Arenas – Rio Grande

After reaching the most southern city on the South American continent, I moved on towards Ushuaia and reached on Sunday evening Rio Grande (AR). I did not take the standard path through San Sebastion but went through Onaisis – Cameron – Rio Grande – Radman (Border) – Rio Grande (AR) instead. Border crossing in Radman is no problem but there is a river to cross just before the Argentinian border control. The river is between 10-15m wide and between half […]

Penguines – Isla Magdalena

[singlepic id=193 w=320 h=240 float=left]This Monday morning, I went to the Isla Magdalena which is home of several 10’000 Magellan Penguines. For this I had to already be at the travel agency in Punta Arenas at 6.50 in the morning. From there we drove to the boat which brought us within 30 minutes through a kind of rough sea to the island. For around 60 minutes we had the chance to walk between  Penguines which was really great. Much better […]
