Chaiten is alive!

Just a short update with some information in case somebody else is planning on visiting Chaiten. Despite that the government has decided to abandon the city, some of the inhabitants do not want to give up their town. There is no electricity, running water, fixed line telephones nor Internet available in town but several supermercatos and accomodations are open and available to serve you.
